OLYMP-Bezner-Stiftung: 10,000 euros for the outpatient hospice service

Financial support for the Ludwigsburg Children’s and Youth Hospice Service

The OLYMP-Bezner-Stiftung a charitable foundation based in in Bietigheim-Bissingen (district of Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany) has made it its mission, since its foundation in 2008, to support children and young people worldwide in the areas of education, health and training. The foundation’s numerous projects have also included the Ludwigsburg Hospice’s Outpatient Children’s and Youth Hospice Service (KiHo) since this year.

The Outpatient Children’s and Youth Hospice Service (KiHo) of the Ludwigsburg Hospice is one of the projects being sponsored by the OLYMP-Bezner-Stiftung for the first time in 2024. Hospice work and grief counselling for children and young people are part of the services offered by the Ökumenische Hospizinitiative im Landkreis Ludwigsburg e. V. (Ecumenical Hospice Initiative in the District of Ludwigsburg), which has been supporting and accompanying families in the district of Ludwigsburg in their individual life situations since 2007.

The donation of 10,000 euros made by the OLYMP-Bezner-Stiftung is earmarked in particular for therapeutic riding. This measure, which is equally educational, psychological, psychotherapeutic, rehabilitative and socially integrative, is an important component in strengthening the physical, emotional and social abilities of children and young people through contact with horses.

Mathias Eggle, Chairman of the OLYMP-Bezner -Stiftung, says: “It is very important to us to support organisations such as the Outpatient Children’s and Youth Hospice Service, which does invaluable work for the families concerned. We are delighted that our donation is helping to give these children and their families a little quality of life in this difficult phase of their lives”.

Children and young people grieve very differently from adults, depending on their stage of development. The Outpatients Children’s and Youth Hospice Service supports children and young people individually in dealing with grief and in processing pain, fears of loss, illness and death. Highly trained volunteers support the affected families locally by providing advice, raising awareness and offering practical assistance. The service is dedicated to sick children and young people, as well as their parents, siblings and relatives, from the time of diagnosis until the mourning phase.

The OLYMP-Bezner-Stiftung was established in 2008 by the family of Eberhard Bezner, Mark Bezner and Birgit Bezner-Fischer with a personal endowment of one million euros. Detailed descriptions of the numerous charitable and social projects are available online at www.olymp-bezner-stiftung.de.
